Humbold Explorer

 

We, on the Humboldt Explorer, highly recommended our 8 or 15 days cruises to the North Islands of Darwin And Wolf.

 

An impressive biodiversity which goes from the big schools of Hammerhead sharks to the large and graceful swimming of the Whale Shark.

 

We are ready to show all the beauty of the Galápagos Islands with the professionalism you are looking for.

Galapagos Diving Humboldt Explorer - Galapagos diving

 

Scheduled excursions always start and finish in San Cristobal. The ship dock is reached in a short 5-10 minute bus ride from the airport in San Christobal.

 

Live aboard the Humbold Explorer, including Darwin and Wolf Islands are recommnended for intermediate and advanced divers with experience in strong currents and 7 mm. diving suit.

 

Facilities - The dive deck is equipped with individual gear bins, large camera table, recharging station, air and nitrox filling stations, tank racks, and a separate fresh water rinse tank for underwater camera equipment. Diving operations are conducted from two large pangas (tenders), easily boarded from the dive deck. The Humboldt Explorer is also equipped with a satellite telephone for emergency calls worldwide.

The air-conditioned salon on the main deck includes dining tables, TV, VCR, CD/DVD, video library and lounge area. Sunning/viewing areas, ample seating and a jacuzzi are located on the top level.


Humboldt Explorer - Galapagos diving

 

Accommodation - The M/V Humboldt Explorer comfortably accommodates 16 passengers in 8 air-conditioned rooms, all of which have private bathroom facilities. Most rooms have twin bunks that convert to larger beds for couples, flat screen televisions and all have windows to maximize the view of the Pacific Ocean and Galapagos Archipelago. Cabins are located on the main and lower decks.

 

Humboldt Explorer - Galapagos diving

Diving & equipment - Each day are offered 2 or 3 dives. Under current Galapagos National Park guideline, night dives are not allowed by any boat, ship or vessel within the Galapagos National Park.

 

Our boat has a Nitrox membrane system, diving with extra Nitrox is an additional charge. We suggest you bring at least a wetsuit (5mm - 7mm - dry or semidry) with hood, boots and gloves.

 

Water temperature - From december to may: 21°-27°C (70°-80°F) and from june to november 15°-23°C (60°-75°F). This information may vary depending on current weather conditions.

 

Galapagos Diving areas

 

Dive area - The fantastic and impressive underwate lava formations of the archipel are the reason of a bizarre and beatifull landscape, with unique and endemic marine vegetation.

 

The Galapagos Islands are place of some of the world's most spectacular large fish varieties. Highlights include the far north of Wolf and Darwin Islands with a countless Galapagos sharks as hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, Galapagos sharks, manta rays, eagle rays, sea turtles, sea lions, dolphins, marine iguanas and more marine wildlife.

 

The itinerary and schedules are determined by the captain and may change depending on weather conditions, security reasons or Galapagos National Park conditions. The dives are mostly performed off dive dinghies.

Travel insurance, accident or injury are not included in our rates, our programs or our information. We suggest purchasing travel insurance in your country of origin. Our boat and crew are not responsible for accidents or injuries caused aboard during your stay. The disclaimer form is available from now. It is also recommended to bring dive alert. Safety is everyone's responsibility. First aid equipment is available on board.
